Hello everyone,
Happy Beltane!
Can you believe we are already this far into 2024?! As we step into the 5th month of the year, we are now in masturbation month.
This month I’ll be showcasing a few cards from the Decameron tarot deck, as it has some has some interesting cards that (sometimes more than) hint of self pleasure.
Here you see VIII Justice. Lady Justice has her back to us as well as having her eyes masked. Does she have a secret to reveal or is she feeling ashamed about what she is doing? Maybe she loves the mystery and thrill evoked for those that see her stroke herself when she can not see them.
The scales hold a naked man on one side and a naked woman on the other. Truth and fairness are measured on the scales and the scales are even today. Everyone involved is enjoying the erotic experience.
She kneels on soft red pillows that cover skulls. There is no explanation for this particular aspect of this card as far as I’ve seen in the world of tarot. Please fill me in below on comments if you have any information on this specific card.
Skulls, in general, can mean so many things, as I’m sure you’re aware of.
We have Day of the Dead each November, which embraces the symbolism of skulls and ancestors.
The Lakota have a ceremony of dragging skulls where a bone pierces a persons back and bison skulls on long ropes are tied to the piercing bone. The person walks across the prairie, dragging the skulls on the ground until the skin is broken and the skulls are released - thereby releasing old wounds, sickness, emotional pains and old patterns of both themself and those that they pray for in the ceremony.
Skulls can represent a turning point - the old dying out and a new person, place or thing coming into play. They can also be about fear - fear of death or fear of change.
Is this justice card a signal to unleash some sexual shadows? Exploring your own body can be not only physical, but have a revealing element around your emotions, your spiritual awareness and your intellectual perceptions. In other words - shadow work can be woven into a masturbation practice.
What do skulls and the way these are placed on this card, mean to you?
Todays post is a short one. However, look for longer articles on masturbation over the next 4 weeks.

My first impression was the many "petite mortes" that are required to achieve balance.
"She kneels on soft red pillows that cover skulls" This says to me, that she is reclaiming, or rejuvenating the energies of Kali. Kali wore a head-dress of red flames and a necklace made from skulls. She was a demander of sacrifice, and not in a consensual way! Perhaps this Justice seeks to correct that!
