Greetings and hello everyone!
I was planning on touching base with you so much more this summer, but so far, I’ve been on other unexpected adventures. This latest expedition involved a call to 911 at midnight a couple of weeks ago and me ending up in the hospital getting an appendectomy. Not all that fond of medical procedures, but I bent my rules for a change of pace… It’s been quite the rite of passage as The Fool might elude to :)
Of course it wasn’t the ever popular acute appendicitis. No, not for this weirdo. I had the rare, barely known about chronic appendicitis - a little less serious, but just as painful and I still had to say goodbye to the appendage.
I’m very excited that Chiara will be joining us today for another sneak peek into her future Divine Harlot deck. Check it out here: on Instagram DIVINEHARLOT or at chiara-scura.com. Her summer life has been full with art projects, travels, a magnificent birthday and other “inspiration gathering.”
Today we’ll have a closer look at the tarot card The Fool. What does this have to do with Sex and Intimacy Coaching? As always the cards assist with self inquiry. That includes the emotional self, the psychic self, the sexual self and any other facets of life’s journey.
As we move into looking at Many Fools, it’s natural to wonder exactly where these tricksters journey’s are pointed. Perhaps there is a love of new things, people and places. Or could The Fool be completely unconcerned with trivial inquiry? The more familiar you become with this card, the more you realize there’s more than just a clueless fool at play;
The Fool plays by their own rules, wise in their choice to be foolish.
I find it fascinating to see The Fool from more than one deck. While you generally see a young man about to embark on a brave new adventure, the variety between decks paints a slightly different picture.
The Ryder Waite depicts a fanciful Fool. He is so carefree that he pays little attention to the fact that he may step off the edge of the cliff at any moment. He has few possessions to weigh him down and this dog follows him faithfully. Few realize that the feather playfully floating against his small bag is representative of the feather of Maat. This symbol can be about harmony and bringing balance to a “crooked road”.
The Decameron Fool is really hilarious. He’s gotten himself so drunk that he can not please his girlfriend, who looks quite perturbed at the condition his limp d!ck. Metaphorically, he has already stepped off a cliff. His adventure from here on out will likely be without his girlfriend and one shoe.
The Vintage Marseille Fool (Le Mat- derived from the Italian etymological meaning for crazy or drunken one, lL Matto ) has him walking along a trail, completely unaffected by the dog that is ripping away his clothing. Like the RW Fool, his possessions are few and light to carry.
Overall, this card carries meanings around detachment, freedom seeking, carefree lifestyles, being enthusiastic and partaking in new adventures. Nothing is off limits to explore. There may be a creative force or intuitive carelessness that makes for joyful chaos. Responsibility, comfort and conformity are of no concern here.
The Thoth deck Fool has the most mystical and esoteric imagery of the cards covered here. Lots to sort through, so we will only cover a bit of the symbolism for now.
While there are definite representations of freedom and independence, he takes his creativity and adventures to a whole new level. He weaves in a dividing line that makes his limitations clear. Not only is he unafraid to say yes, he is also bold in saying no. Non-judgment towards self or others guide his way.
The crocodile on the bottom left represents his unapologetic attitude of creative expression and keen leadership abilities. The crocodile is the protector. For deeper symbolism, check out SOBEK.
Instead of having his trousers torn and eaten away by an unruly dog, this Fool is being bitten by the tiger of fear. He is most unconcerned. Victimology is not in his nature. This attitude takes the Fools experience to deeper levels of transformation. His dial is set for a quantum leap into wherever he makes his next desired goal. His creative forces cannot be held back.
The cup/crystal in his right hand and a burning torch in his left hand represent alchemy - the mixing of opposites. His intuitive powers can give rise to fantastical new endeavors.
Be aware, he can be the ultimate trickster. If it suits his vision, he will summon those that he is drawn to with irresistible zany laughter that heals intellect, emotion, body and spirit.

Any of these cards represent new beginnings. Be ready to take a risk for the things near and dear to your heart if you receive The Fool in your card reading. Embrace the upcoming self development. Don’t hold back. The alchemy created here can lead to new and reparative experiences.
P.S. ~ A Sneak Peek (as promised)
This fool embodies all genders and no gender, his core essence always in a fluid state. She shows us the spectrums of this universe and the spectrums which make up multiple dimensions. The Fool is hypersexual and completely asexual, sometimes at the exact same moment. They represent a state of sexual vulnerability and protective ignorance to this. All the tools of sexuality and sexual play are ready to be used, yet the experience is not yet had or maybe, forgotten. The Fool may communicate the beginning of a sexual journey, or the beginning of a new sexual or asexual phase… or perhaps, something in between. The fool almost always beckons change and suggests willingness to take a risk.
All encompassing, androgynous, fun, wise, playful, careless- the epitome of erotic games; The Fool knows the deep need for play in all life forms. They hold all wisdom with lack of ego, lack of fear, and encourage us to move into new potentially pleasurable or painful experiences without fear.
