Hello dear friends,
I’ve been mostly offline the past few months, but also posting daily tarot card draws on Instagram.
We (Chiara and Iva - have you missed us? We’ve been gone a while) found a book when we were wandering around the Santa Rosa farmers market a couple of years ago called TAROT D’AMoUR. It’s got some interesting ideas, but can be a bit vanilla and traditional. So it’s best to pick and choose what’s useful from this book and use other resources plus intuition to find the juiciest meanings for a sexually themed card draw.
Tarot readings can be focused solely on your sex life if you so choose.
While the full card meaning can depend on the position of a card in a reading, you can gain a lot of insight from the elements and art work of each card.
Wands represent fire and the 8 of Wands can be about fun, hasty quickies with self or a partner, make up sex after an argument or perhaps an impromptu retreat with a lover at an exotic location.
8’s are generally attributed to community or specific groups. So this may hint at sensual get togethers and erotic workshops.
Use your sense of curiosity for each of these cards to gain some BDSM inspiration. The Thoth SWIFTNESS depicts lightning (into electric play?), the 8 of Wands in Ryder Waite and several other decks look like examples of caning or spanking items. The Marseille 8 of Wands looks like an inviting restraint board where you can be tied up in a variety of ways.
It’s definitely a favorable card for an abundance of opportunities around what new pleasures may be blossoming. This can open the door to defining new experiences.
The 3 of Cups is another sexy card. In the Thoth deck it is called ABUNDANCE. This can relate to an overflowing expression of love - a card about sharing and appreciation. A reminder of giving and receiving that results in joyous connections.
Cups are about the element water and your emotions. So expect sexual energy, deep feelings and awareness of what love means to you.
Some of the Cups cards can be quite dark, like the 8 of Cups which in some decks is Indolence. Laziness and emotional stuck-ness are a facet here.
The “negative” cards can be a real asset when you are sorting out shadows and examining the reflections/repeat patterns that you see in the world around you. We’ll have an article on this topic soon.
Swords. What can I say? Quite the phallic symbol. Swords are ruled by the element of air. Think wooing your lover, journaling about your dreams, desires and erotic curiosities. A great card to remind us all of the importance of ongoing communication between two or more people.
The Devil from the Thoth deck is jumping off the page with penetrating energy and an urge towards creative endeavors. This represents the 2nd chakra and 5th chakra - a demand for summoning your muse. This image is over the top with fantastical artistic expression, individuality and exciting experiences.
Le Diable offers a great invitation for us to challenge the norm and find our inner scoundrel. The Devil may also call your attention to a lack of intimacy when it arrives in certain positions on your card spread. Click HERE for more Devil particulars.
The Major Arcana in the Thoth deck has some very obvious sexual content with cards such as LUST, THE LOVERS, THE DEVIL. But don’t stop there - use your imagination to find other sensual invitations.
